TLP February 20, 2007

A super-quick, patch-through Lex Pro. Hoping to have a full one out early next week. Until then … join the fun of TONIGHT’s Mardi Gras bike parade and check out the “Playin’ the Field” prom at Alfalfa next Monday.
Hope all are well.

:: TONIGHT! Tuesday, February 20 ::
Mardi Gras bike parade through downtown Lexington!
starting in Triangle Park (corner of Main and Broadway), meet-up @ 8:15pm
after-party at Gumbo Ya Ya, 1080 S. Broadway – next to Buffalo Wild Wings

Frequent alley cat organizer and all around swell guy Tim Buckingham is gathering folks for an informal Mardi Gras bike parade. All the info’s in his email below.

OK, so my heart is a little broken thinking about Lexington not having a people's mardi gras parade this year. If you did not attend any of the last few years then you missed a great time. Imagine marching in the streets, citizen bands, no cars, bike and hand pulled floats...It was a great time.

Since there is not going to be one this year I thought we could just pull something together this Tuesday for Fat Tuesday.

Decorate your bike, wear your beads, brings signs and noise... well make this a critical mass mardi gras parade. Meet at Triangle Park on Tuesday Feb 20th at 8:15 pm. Oh yea, there is a home UK game that starts at 9 so we can parade in traffic.

We'll do a victory lap around downtown from triangle park to thoroughbred park and back; then we'll head out Broadway to Gumbo Ya Ya for food and beers. At Ya Ya’s, we can get some food to eat, drink $2 BBC and Abita Beers, plus free King Cake.

Start decorating and get ready to rock the streets of Lexington during a UK Game.

Cheers, TIM (Buckingham)
